Shire of Corrigin Celebrates Full Sale of Granite Rise Estate Lots
The Shire of Corrigin is pleased to announce the complete sale of all 33 residential lots in the Granite Rise Estate - an achievement that highlights the town’s growing economic strength, increasing population confidence, and rising demand for quality housing in the Wheatbelt region.
Shire President Cr Sharon Jacobs said the milestone is a strong endorsement of Corrigin as a vibrant, resilient, and desirable place to live, work, and invest.
“The full sale of the Granite Rise Estate confirms that Corrigin is thriving. While population decline remains a challenge for many regional communities, Corrigin is moving with confidence in the opposite direction,” the Shire President said.
“These sales demonstrate strong, sustained demand for housing in our community and across the Wheatbelt.”
The Shire of Corrigin developed 33 residential lots in the Granite Rise Estate in 2009. The fully serviced lots ranged in size from 715m2 to 1517m2.
The project was initiated thanks to the foresight and strategic thinking of former Shire Councillors, who recognised that Corrigin would need additional residential land to achieve its long-term vision of strengthening the community now to grow and prosper into the future.Their commitment to planning ahead laid the foundation for today’s success.
Initial uptake was slow, with only three lots selling between 2009 and 2020. The demand for lots in the Granite Rise Estate increased over the past five years largely due to increased marketing effort, discounted block values, COVID stimulus grants and cash back incentives from the Shire of Corrigin.
The sale of all lots in the Granite Rise Estate is an indicator of a strong local economy and community confidence. Demand for residential land is now outpacing supply which demonstrates Corrigin’s appeal to new residents, returning families, and skilled workers.
“Corrigin has proven it is a great place to call home, and the market has responded accordingly,” the Shire President said.
“With every block in the estate now sold, it’s clear we must consider future residential development to meet the needs of our growing community.”
To meet the proven demand the Shire plans to work with State Government agencies to explore opportunities for funding and support to open additional residential land.
“We now have clear, demonstrated demand with several potential buyers interested in Corrigin” the Shire President said.
“To support our local economy, attract workers, and continue building a strong future, we need to secure the right partnerships and funding to develop new land for housing.”
The Shire of Corrigin will continue advocating for regional development and investment to ensure the community remains a strong, sustainable, and welcoming place for current and future residents.
