Temporary Accommodation
A Guide to Applying for a Temporary Accommodation Permit in the Shire of Corrigin
The Shire of Corrigin recognises that in certain situations, residents may seek to reside temporarily in moveable dwellings such as caravans, camper trailers, or tiny homes on wheels. To support these situations, Council has adopted a Temporary and Moveable Accommodation Policy and accompanying Temporary Accommodation Guidelines, which outline when and how approval may be granted.
Before applying for a permit, we encourage all applicants to carefully review both documents. The policy sets out the types of accommodation allowed, applicable zones, and maximum approval periods, while the guidelines provide detailed instructions on application requirements, site suitability, amenity standards, and health and safety provisions.
Temporary accommodation may be permitted on private property for up to 24 months, subject to specific conditions including waste management, potable water supply, fire safety, and more. Certain restrictions apply, and approvals will not be granted in Commercial or Town Centre zones. Please note that using temporary accommodation for short term holiday rental or tourism purposes is not permitted.
