Local Government Elections
About Local Government Elections
Local Government ordinary elections are held on the third Saturday in October every two years. Elected members are elected for a term of four years unless filling a vacancy created by a mid-term resignation. The next election will be held Saturday 18 October 2025.
The Shire of Corrigin 2025 elections will be a postal vote, which is conducted by the Electoral Commissioner of the Western Australian Electoral Commission.

14 August: Candidate Information Session
22 August: Enrolments Close
28 August: Nominations Open
4 September: Nominations Close 4.00pm
18 October: Election Day
Stand for Council
If you're passionate about the Corrigin community and want to contribute to local decision-making, consider nominating for Council.
Elected members play a key role in shaping the future of our community, represent a wide range of views and make important decisions on services such as community buildings, parks and ovals, roads and footpaths, local planning and development, and waste management.
The Shire of Corrigin has seven Councillors. The vacancies being contested in the 2025 election are:
- 3 x four-year terms
- 2 x two-year terms
Council meetings are currently held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6pm, but this schedule may be adjusted to suit elected members.

Eligibility to Vote in Local Government Elections
The right to vote in Local Government Elections depends on your place of residence. If you are already enrolled with a residential address within the Shire of Corrigin, you are eligible to vote in the election.
If you own land within the Shire of Corrigin but do not reside within it, you may still be eligible to vote. Find out more information here.
New enrolments and changes to current enrolment details must be completed by 5.00pm Friday, 22 August 2025.
