The Department of Sport and Recreation, the
Leisure Institute of Western Australia Aquatics,
Royal Life Saving Society Australia and the
Shire of Corrigin conducted the 20
th
Annual
Country Pool Managers Seminar on Thursday
the 27
th
of October at the Corrigin Community
Resource Centre (CRC).
The
event highlighted
issues relevant to aquatic centers in the
region. It also provided a great opportunity to
share the knowledge and information that
exists throughout the regions and the aquatic
industry.
LIWA Aquatics with its industry partners, Royal
Life Saving and the Department of Sport and
Recreation, are aware of the critical need to
provide
professional
development
opportunities in regional areas. It is important
that both local and global issues are discussed
and
networks
are
developed
and
maintained. Aquatic facility managers need to
ensure that the local pool remains the focal
point of the region and provides for both the
social and recreation needs of its community
members. The seminar in Corrigin brought
together 35 industry professionals from across
the Wheatbelt and the Goldfields and this year
focused on dealing with behaviorally issues,
supervision of the aquatic centre, Watch
Around Water and training and development. It
was a great day and all the delegates enjoyed
the hospitality of the Shire as well as a great
meal in the local hotel on the Wednesday
night.
