Dog in a Ute
Corrigin first held the Dog in a Ute event in 1998, when the community & the Apex Club thought they could beat the record the victorians had made. Thier record was 325 and we smashed it with 699.
In April 2002 Corrigin broke the World Record with 1527 dogs in utes, in an event that raised over $60,000 for the RFDS and Community Emergency Services. Warnambool in Victoria held the previous record of 797.
Corrigin again held this unique event on the 9th April 2005. With 1325 dogs in utes we didn't quite beat our own world record but it was a very successful and well organised event which everyone enjoyed.
Over $80,000 was raised with proceeds going to both the RFDS and local organisations.
In 2008, the Corrigin Apex Club decided to hold a reunion of the event - seeing as it had been 10 years since our first event. The day was hampered by rain but still a successful day for the event management.
It's now up to the 'Vics' to beat us so we can look forward to another Dog in a Ute!
Click here to check out the Dog in a Ute website as we show you some of the utes and dogs that took part in the fun.
