WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Hyden Primary

School tours CREC

On Tuesday 30th August, twelve Year 1 & 2 children from

Hyden Primary School, toured the Corrigin Recreation &

Events Centre with their teacher, Miss Lauren Hewett (a

former CDHS student). They are currently learning about the

Olympics and looking at stadiums.

Heather Talbot from the Shire of Corrigin gave an introduction

talk about the new CREC facility, the many functions of the

building and design features included by the architect. The

group was then guided around all the different areas and were

asked to spot features like emergency exits, hearing loops,

sight impaired flooring, brail signage and fire hoses. Lauren

said it was beneficial for the children to see first hand how

different materials create a building and what these type of

facilities mean to a community.

On the 5th September, representatives from local Clubs

and Groups attended the “Volunteer & Member Attraction

& Retention” Workshop held at the Corrigin CRC.

Valuable information was presented covering membership

retention and why people leave or don’t join groups.
