Stevenson Scholarships for Education

The Stevenson Scholarship was established by the late Edna Stevenson (a former resident of the Shire of Corrigin) to promote and advance the education of the residents of the Shire of Corrigin. Stevenson Scholarships are administered by the Trustees of the Edna Stevenson Trust.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR 2024

Eligibility

Stevenson Scholarships are available to students who are residents of the Shire of Corrigin, whose parents or guardians are not able to provide sufficient financial assistance for the student to achieve further education.

Resident Status

Applicants must be either:

(a) a resident of the Shire of Corrigin at the time of applying for the Stevenson Scholarship

(b) a former resident of the Shire of Corrigin (of not more than five years absence or such longer absence permitted in the Trustees’ discretion where due to: (i) the former resident undertaking education outside of the Shire of Corrigin; or (ii) any other reason permitted in the Trustees’ discretion) who was a student at the Corrigin District High School for at least three years of secondary education and whose immediate family resides in the Shire of Corrigin.

Student Status

Students must be enrolled in and attending any of the following:

(a) Corrigin District High School

(b) Any government run senior high school in Western Australia

(c) A recognised Australian tertiary or higher education institution 

Scholarships

Scholarships provide financial assistance to help cover the costs of text books, enrolment fees and course fees at approved educational institutions.
The following amounts are indicative only, lesser or greater amounts may be awarded depending on the course of study and financial need:

  • Secondary Study up to $5,000
  • Tertiary Study up to $5,000

Scholarships are awarded for one year periods. Scholarship recipients may apply for further scholarships on a year by year basis.

Application Forms and Closing Dates

Applications will be accepted at any time during the year for consideration by the Trustees.

The trustees will meet four times a year. The dates can be viewed on the Council Committees page here.

Applications need to be submitted one (1) week prior to the meeting date to be considered within the agenda of that meeting. Late applications will be considered at the next meeting.
