Town Planning
The Shire Council exercises realistic and responsible management of its Town Planning function, via the provision of its District Town Planning Scheme No. 2.
The general objectives of the Town Planning Scheme are:
- To zone the Scheme area for the purposes described in the Scheme.
- To formulate development control provisions and adopt policies to enable Council to realistically and responsibly manage development and the environment throughout the Urban and Rural Sectors of the Shire.
- To secure the amenity, health and convenience of the Scheme area and the inhabitants thereof.
- To preserve, protect and enhance the Corrigin Urban Townscape, buildings, places and objects of Heritage Value.
- To make provision for other matters necessary and incidental to town planning and development in general.
- To assist the implementation of the State Planning Strategy and other relevant regional policies.
Prior to the lodging of any development application with the local authority, it is considered advisable that contact be made with the Shires Officers in order to ascertain the zoning of the proposed project site and any necessary detail, which should accompany an application seeking Councils formal Planning Approval.
