04-06-2009

The Shire of Corrigin has utilized funding from Department of Sport and Recreation, Federal Community and Local Government Infrastructure grant and Royalties for Regions to upgrade facilities at the Corrigin Swimming Pool. The Upgrade will be completed in two stages with new change room facilities, first aid room and office being the first stage and a fully enclosed and heated hydrotherapy pool included in the second stage. The upgrade is long overdue and a welcome change to patrons of the Corrigin Swimming pool who will now be able to enjoy fully enclosed change rooms with hot showers.

Corrigin Swimming Club secretary, Charmaine Rendell said “Corrigin looks forward to being able to host swim meets. Corrigin has a state of the art pool and it will be great to have change room facilities to match. The Corrigin Swimming Club continues to grow and new facilities will help to attract swimmers into the club”.

Shire of Corrigin Community Development Officer, Mrs Heather Talbot said “A Community needs and Feasibility study was completed in 2005 and the Community identified a real need for a hydrotherapy pool. The hydrotherapy pool will be of great benefit to the elderly and people needing to recover from injuries with the aid of low impact exercise”. “Sporting clubs will also be able to utilize the facilities for physical therapy and exercise” Mrs Talbot said.

It is anticipated that the upgrades to the Swimming Pool Change rooms, office and first aid room will be completed ready for the 2009/10 season. The hydrotherapy pool is scheduled to be completed in 2010.
